What is Optrader?

Optrader.ca is a web-based options screening and analytics tool for Canada and US markets. It helps you explore screened covered call and cash-secured put candidates using filters and analytics such as ROO (%), open interest, delta, earnings timing, news sentiment, historical seasonality, and model-based signals. The platform provides informational outputsโ€”it does not provide personalized investment advice.

How do I use the filters?

Use the sidebar to filter by metrics such as ROO (%), sector, open interest, RSI, volume, and more. You can combine multiple filters to narrow results. Since market data can change, itโ€™s best to refresh your dataset before acting on any screen results.

What is the meaning of ROO (%)?

ROO stands for Return on Option. It represents the option premium as a percentage of the underlying price for that expiry window (often shown as a simple yield for the period, not necessarily annualized). ROO is a screening metric only and does not account for commissions, taxes, slippage, early assignment, or changes in volatility.

What is the difference between Free and Paid?

Free users can explore a limited set of features. Paid access unlocks additional filters, analytics, model outputs, and PDF exports. See the Features page for a full breakdown. Paid access is for enhanced tooling and data visibilityโ€”it does not provide personalized recommendations.

What do the model-based signals mean?

Optrader may display model-based outputs derived from historical data (e.g., Logistic Regression, Random Forest, Naive Bayes). These are statistical indicators that can help you explore how similar historical conditions behaved. They are not guarantees, forecasts, or recommendations, and model confidence scores are not promises of accuracy. Market conditions change, and outcomes may differ materially from historical patterns.

What is Sentiment Score?

News sentiment is an informational indicator calculated from recent public articles using NLP models (e.g., FinBERT and VADER). Scores summarize the general tone of coverage (bullish/neutral/bearish) during a lookback period. Sentiment can be noisy, headlines can be misleading, and results may change as new articles appear.

Can I export data?

Yes. You can export filtered results to a PDF report. Exports may include tables, charts, and selected historical metrics. Reports are point-in-time summaries and may become outdated as prices, implied volatility, open interest, and news change.

Is my data private?

We aim to keep user data secure. Login and payment processing are handled using standard security practices and trusted providers. Optrader does not sell personal data. For details (data collected, retention, and access), please refer to the Privacy Policy.
